Ryan and I grew up together, mates since we were 15. While our lives have drifted in and out of orbit over the past 32 years, he was always only a phone call away. I valued his frank and uncomplicated guidance and his innate ability to cut through the bullshit of any situation.

No buildings are named after him, no monuments erected in his honor, no fanfare at his passing, but his resilience, courage, strength, determination, and integrity have had a lasting impact on me. He exemplified dedication, loyalty, and love – values that I strive to live my life by every day.

The world is a little less whole and a little less bright with Ryan’s passing, but his legacy will live on in all those he touched in his life.

But, he was still rubbish at golf!

# Jett STAPLETON Tuesday, 04 January 2022
My name is Jett Stapleton I worked with Ryan for about 4 years with the police service - Stock Squad & Ipswich CIB. I have passed on my Condolences to Kimberley and family via police channels but I just wanted to post here to Ryans extended family and friends. Ryan and I spent a lot of time on the road together particularly while working in the stock squad which shared many adventures and laughs. We had several overnight work camping trips with other officers when I would subject Ryan and others to my camp fire crooning and guitar.I have just recorded the below song in honour and dedicated to Ryan. I think the lyrics are very appropriate to Ryan and his qualities (I apologise I am only an amateur musician but I just wanted to do something to honour my mate) The song Once in a while can be listened tat following link https://youtu.be/brKJ8xNRa2Y

I was fortunate enough to grow up in the same street as Ryan and we knocked around as kids do. When I joined the police in the early 90's I was delighted to find out that he had joined. He was a straight up good bloke and whilst we lost touch after I left the police in 2017, I bumped into him by chance in the hospital about a month ago. My deepest sympathies to Ryan's family. I find myself grappling with the unfairness of it all, that such a good bloke can be taken so young by such a cruel illness. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to catch up one last time before you left. Rest in peace mate. You will be missed.
