Our story
Whitsunday Funerals and Crematorium is the only family owned funeral home in the Whitsunday area and comprises of funeral homes based in Mackay, Proserpine and Bowen.
Whitsunday Funerals was purchased buy Simon & Kayleen Law from Jeff & Judy in May 2024. Simon & Kayleen also own and operate Milton Ulladulla Funeral Services & bring over 50 years combined funeral service knowledge & understanding to the Whitsundays.
Simon has grown up around funerals after moving into the funeral home as a 5-year-old. As he grew he watched his parents help to many families through the heartache of losing a loved one. He started helping out as a 15-year-old still in school. He joined the business as an 18-year-old full time & has loved the profession ever since.
Simon & Kayleen purchased Milton Ulladulla Funeral Services in 2004, and in 2023 when Jeff mentioned he was ready to sell Whitsunday Funerals, the decision was made to start a new adventure.
Whitsunday Funerals and Crematorium was born after Jeff Boyle was introduced to the industry, with an opportunity to help a friend transport a deceased person for a funeral company. Seeing a need for this service, Jeff and Judy started Funeral Transfer Services Australia in 1998, with the generous guidance and mentorship of someone within the industry. The business took off due to high demand. And Jeff and Judy applied their innovative minds to the additional inclusions that demonstrated utmost care and recognition for the deceased and their families.
Within a year, the business was operating a fleet of four and had the opportunity to buy out Sydney Mortuary Transfers, which saw them gain another two vehicles
It wasn’t long before Funeral Transfer Services Australia become the largest and most sought-after company and 2001 saw eight refrigerated vehicles with newly designed lifting decks, enabling the carrying four deceased at a time.
In 2010 the Proserpine funeral home was purchased and so, Whitsunday Funerals and Crematorium began.
