Thank you Mrs Standen for showing me that women can be strong independant leaders, she taught me that if you believe strongly in something then go for it even if the odds are against you,
. Never have I met a more firm but fair women who cared so deeply about her students. Thank you for paving the way for me and many other women..rest on peace

RIP to one of the best educators Bowen has even been blessed to have. Will never forget BP class with you. Or the stories my mother told me about the time you shared teaching together. Or the fact you both got married one day apart. I hope you are both up there catching up.

what a wonderful educator standons was my typing bussiness studies n shorthand teacher and also depty head mistress , She taught myself even if things wernt right at home or school i could always go to her for advice .I learnt to be a stronger woman from having known her my condolences to Mr stand on and also the family n freinds she leaves behind.

RIP Mrs Standen. Thank you for all your years of service to the students of Bowen High School. You were a strong, resilient dedicated teacher and a great female role model. You taught 3 generation of the Edgerton family and for me I will always remember your saying "up here for thinking and down there for dancing.'
I am thankful for your time and knowledge you passed on as I use it everyday in my job.
You will never be forgotten.

I remember Miss.... but can't remember her maiden name when she taught us. She was so strict and so fair. We did our typing lessons to the tune of 'the Hucklebuck' and 'Rockin' Robin', and she was always telling me to cut my fingernails. And when I forgot to do my homework (not often mind you) she would say, "bring it in tomorrow" and all the others who generally had fanciful excuses told them to do it triple fold. I must say her typing teaching has stood me in good stead all my life. And I still do a double space after a full stop!!! Rest in peace Joycie!
