We had some great times playing Rugby for Handsworth and having a few beers after and occasionally a Balti at Azims Curry House. Served as a police officer and friend to many people. Taken from us too early.
Happy memories of Bob playing rugby for Handsworth Rugby Club. Great player. Great coach. Inspirational off the pitch. Will raise a glass or two in his memory. RIP Bob
Another larger than life character has left us. He was a very good captain and a real character. I remember him phoning the club from down under whenever Handsworth had a big game on. Although he’s been left over thirty years he was always a Handsworth man.
A great mate since our first meeting in 1979, when I joined the Police Motorcycle Dept in Birmingham. We remained in contact since, Bob was there with support when I lost my beautiful life partner Sharon to cancer two years ago. Rest in Peace mate, and thank you. My condolences to his family and friends, from here in Shropshire, UK.
One expression Rob is that I am shattered. I am never going to get to see your place now and you to cook that meal you always on about. Only thing I will not miss is the giant spiders you always on about. Will miss your sense of humour. Taken too soon. Maureen
Farewell Bob it has been a privilege knowing you for such a long time as a friend and team mate at Handsworth Rugby Club. You were one of the best captains and mentor that I had the privilege of us playing together in the same team. There will be a lot of memories shared at the club with your name been at the forefront. Rest in peace buddy you will be remembered for a long time.
Thank you so much for allowing us to follow Rob’s funeral from 1000s of miles away . We have many fond memories of the times we spent together when our children were sooo small. A big man, with a big heart , we hope in time the pain will ease and the happier times you spent together will come to mind. Our love to you all . Michael , Katie , Emma , Tom and Ed xxx
