Tributes

# Kellie Stephens Wednesday, 28 October 2020
Farewell to a very special man and Uncle. I will never forget the day you crawled into my father’s (your brother Keith’s) bed when he became too ill to get up and shared stories and special moments. It meant so much to us all. Love you❤️

What a privilege it's been to be your daughter and to have you as the granddad to my children. Whilst this year has been tough we've also shared some extra special memories through a true circle of life experience as I contributed to your end of life care when you were so vulnerable. It was especially beautiful to see your enduring love for mum and to know how lucky you were to find each other at that dance. You'll be sadly missed, but you live on in the faces and character of my kids and you will never be forgotten. I love you xo

“He’s just a lovely man” said Mark Sherwell his nephew. You were loyal, funny, inappropriate at times, hardworking, honest, your time had come and we let you go but you live on in your children and grandchildren and the memories of 55 years.

No one could be down for long when they were around you, Dick. Thank you for being such a wonderful uncle and for all the laughter and jokes along the way. Thank you for being grand-uncle to our boys who all think the world of you. Thank you for being a best mate to my hubby, Tom, both larakins through and through. We will miss you old friend.

A lovely man his nephew Mark Sherwell. My husband was loyal, funny, inappropriate at times, hard working of good character enjoyed a joke and had a great sense of humour. Your time had come it was time to go the decision was made by you, the torment was over the confusion gone and no more pain no more indignities, you live on in your children and grandchildren and our 55 years of memories RIP

For my husband, as said by your nephew Mark, you are "just a lovely man". You were loyal, hardworking, inappropriate at times and you loved nothing more than a drink and a joke. It was your time, you made your decision and we let you go. No more torture. No more confusion. No more pain. No more indignities. You will live on in your children and your grandchildren and 55 years of memories. RIP

Dick loved life. He was such a wonderful story teller. I will cherish all the memories from times when we were young and sailing at Eimeo to him being the MC at our wedding.
He taught me things I’m only just realising as I get older.
Rest easy mate. You will be missed.
Love from Trent, Christine And family.

Dick loved life and it always showed. My memories of him span from being a youngster when we would gather at the Sherwell's place where the adults would always be laughing to him being the MC at our wedding, same thing people laughing again. He could tell a story or two and I learnt alot from him, things I think I'm only just realising now.
A lovely bloke, he will be missed.
Love from Trent, Christine and family.

I would like to thank you for your kind and humble attitude towards life, the acceptance you gave to others, and the hand that you once extended to me as a child. Thank you for accepting me for who I was and not judging me. I appreciate you including me in your family activities and for the good times and conversations. As an adult, I have always reflected on how you and your family gave me hope and some sense of belonging in this world. Thank you Mr. Sherwell for being a part of my childhood. You will always be remembered by me, my dear friend.
